Two Weeks

In two weeks, I will be sitting on a beach in the Dominican Republic. And once again, my little mid-winter beach break couldn't come at a better time...

See, I've never really considered myself an anti-birthday kind of person, but I'm starting to wonder if I might actually be more affected by the big day than I'd previously thought. I always start to feel...disconnected, maybe is the right word, or uninspired, or just plain tired...at this point in the year, and in the past, I've just chalked it up to the weather. Gray, cold, miserable...of course I'm going to be a little blue, right?

But this year, I haven't had that problem. There has been more than enough sun, more than enough warmer weather, and yet...I'm just not myself right now. And I don't like it, at all.

It will pass.

It always does.

And in the meantime, I have a little bit of paradise to look forward to.

But I just wish I knew how to prevent it in the first place...

  1. I think we all feel that way sometimes. For me it's not birthdays but just random days out of the blue every so often. Perhaps... try shopping therapy? Looking forward to a beach vacation is great too ;) Hang in there, two weeks will be here before you know it! ((HUGS))

  2. I. am. so. jealous!!!

    Oh, a real vacation.
I know teachers are blessed with lots of time off, but we can't afford to take fun vacations! At least, I can't. Not while I'm in school, too. :(

So far this month has just kind of sucked. Lots of crappy things have happened. And Miles has officially decided that he's "old" now that he's 26 years old. He even found a "wrinkle" and it's put him in a weird mood, too.

  3. fun fun fun! Happy birthday and so jealous of your upcoming trip!

And I'm pretty sure the blahs you're feeling is not because of your birthday. EVERYONE feels this way in the beginning of the year when the weather is still dreary and it feels like winter is going to last forever. :(

  4. It might be the birthday, it might not. You ARE human, though. It sucks to feel like that, but it's also normal.

    Chocolate? Wine? BOTH?! :)

  5. I think the blahs are just a mixture of everything! My birthday is in the summer warmth, but I still feel disconnected then. I think this vacation will be the perfect thing to help you recharge. I am so jealous, I NEED a vacation!
