That's better...

Today, my friendly 'your hips are getting bigger' co-worker told me she liked my style.

She also told me she doesn't remember me getting this big, this fast with Brigid, but I'll take what I can get.

(And honestly, in her defense? I DON'T REMEMBER GETTING THIS BIG THIS FAST WITH BRIGID, EITHER!!! I DEMAND A RECOUNT.)

Getting By

Oh, you guys. Today...

Today has been a day.

All I can say is that it's a good thing it's Friday.

(Oh, and entirely unrelated to my day and a half that I'm having, could you all do a NO RAIN dance for me for this weekend? I'm going to see Jason Mraz tomorrow night, and you should know that if I'm willing to brave an outdoor concert in the middle of August, at 5+ months pregnant, then that concert is kind of a big deal to me. If it rains, I might cry. And you don't want that on your hands, now do you?)

Wishful Thinking

I have reached the point in this pregnancy where I don't mind looking at myself from the front, but I have looooong since given up on trying to make myself look ok from the side. Especially when wearing a dress, my butt and my stomach kind of combine into one, large, round mass that more or less makes me look like I should be giving birth tomorrow instead of 4-ish months from now.

You know how there are some people who do the cute, belly-only pregnancy?

(Like the very, very skinny pregnant girl I was with in the elevator yesterday? The one who looked like I could eat her in one sitting?)

Yeah, I am not one of those people.

But the end result is worth it, so it is what it is. And in the meantime, I will make myself content with pinning adorable fall outfits on Pinterest that I won't be able to wear until next fall, since I won't be fitting into any of my cute sweaters this year.

It's a good thing I'm resourceful, y'all.

Two in a Row!

Well, thank you all for the indignation on my behalf, yesterday! Seriously, why can't people at least pretend to be surprised when you announce your pregnancy?!?! Why does everyone feel the need to tell you that they just KNEW it was happening?

Whatever.

Brigid told my I was wearing a pretty skirt today, so all is right in my world again.

(Except for that hair, I think. That hair is nowhere close to being right. Hoo, buddy, do I need a haircut!)

Scenes From a Bathroom

Hey! Look!

I STILL WEAR CLOTHES FROM TIME TO TIME!!!

Ok, you caught me: I still wear clothes all of the time. I'm just not nearly as creative with them as I used to be. No shopping and no daily outfit post will do that to you, I guess.

But, you know...I'm adding it to my list*. So I HAVE to be creative now.

Well, after today, anyway...

Sweater: Loft
Skirt: J Crew (outlet)
Boots: DSW
Bracelets: Mango Tree
Earrings: Kenneth Cole (Easter gift)

*(And by adding it to my list, I mean, I'm going to force myself think along the lines of Jess's own Project Wearyoshit, and rely less on pencil skirts in the black and gray varieties to get me through the day...)

(Wear. Yo. Shit. Get it? Ha! I am amused by the simplest things, I swear.)

The last reserves...

I had a ton of pictures stored up from right before Christmas that I never got around to posting, and I figured I could hang on to them to post at a later date, on one of those days where I just didn't feel like getting out of my sweatpants. And now I'm down to my last one. Apparently, I've been lazy these last couple of weeks...

This was my shout-out to the Georgia Bulldogs, the day they lost to LSU in the SEC championship game. We were heading out to meet some friends to watch the game at a restaurant, and since Steve's brother and sister both went to UGA, I thought I should probably show my support somehow. Sadly, the one Georgia t-shirt I own has some bizarre black stains on it, so red shoes were the next best option.

Actually, red shoes were the first best option, if I'm being honest, but I was afraid they might kick me out of the game watch for mentioning that...

Long-time listener, first-time caller

Do any of you ever listen to talk radio? I have Sirius satellite radio in my car, and I tend to listen to a lot of it when I'm driving, generally of the sports talk kind.

(Except for these next two months, of course. Because these next two months are Christmas music months!)

(No, I don't plan on talking about Christmas every day until it finally gets here...)

(Actually, yes. Yes, I do...sorry. I love the holiday season.)

And it never fails that, anytime you listen to the call-in portion of any talk radio show, you always, always, ALWAYS hear someone who calls in to tell the host that, although they've been listening to the program for years, it was the subject of discussion on that particular day that made them realize they just had call to share their opinion. And these callers are usually my favorite part of these shows, because it's always interesting to see just what that topic is that made them realize they didn't want to sit by and not share their thoughts. Sometimes it's surprising to see just what might get someone worked up.

Of course, this has nothing to do with anything today. But I've had this skirt forever (seriously....like, years, forever), and I've never worn it. Not once. But I've kept it around because it's too pretty to donate, and I knew I'd eventually work it into the rotation. And now seemed as good a time as any...

Long-time closet inhabitant, first-time outfit participant, I guess.

Busy Days

October hasn't even started, yet, and I'm already exhausted by it. Part of it is work-related and out of my control. But the other part of it is completely my fault because October means fall, and fall means a nonstop schedule of weekend activities and the start of the holiday season.

(Why yes, I do consider Brigid's birthday the official start of the holiday season...I like to decorate and throw parties and any excuse is a good excuse in my book...).

So, anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that when you start to notice the bags under my eyes, or the fact that I haven't had time for a haircut since the beginning of August, or if I seem to forget I've been wearing the same shirt for a week, a gentle reminder would be much appreciated, ok?

Thanks.

And now...it's Inspiration Monday over at Two Birds!

Neutrals

Nothing like a little monochromatic neutrality to offset a gray week...

Wait, that's not how it works, is it?

At least I added the flower...that counts as trying, right?

(I think it keeps throwing me off when I look out the window, see gray skies and rain, and expect it to be nice and cool, temperature-wise. Then I walk out, and it's actually kind of a drizzly sauna instead. It's throwing me off of my game, people!!)

I've got nothing...

Today is one of those days where I am at a complete loss for words. I've racked my brain, trying to come up with something to say about my day, my outfit, or my life in general, and there's just nothing there.

I mean, I'm trying to get back into running, now that the weather in Georgia doesn't make me want to cry every time I leave the house, and I'm into week two of the Couch to 5K program (for my second time around, because I've lost the ability to run for longer than two minutes at a time since this past spring), and my tailbone has been a little sore since the last run. But really, how is that at all interesting, right?

Although, it apparently doesn't stop me from talking about it, so at least there's that...

(Today's blogging tip, from me to you: When in doubt, ramble aimlessly, and hope nobody notices. Also, try to time your rambling with an outfit that consists of more than a black skirt and gray sweater, if you want maximum distraction power. Oops...)

(Oh, and I am taking recommendations for new running shoes (I'm pretty sure that's where the tailbone issue is coming from), so if you have any ideas/preferences, let me hear them!)
Enjoy your Thursday!

The blues...

It's time to play along with Everybody, Everywear again...

Everybody, Everywear | Colored Pants

I have to admit, when I heard that this month's challenge was colored pants, I was a little nervous. I can wear a brightly colored skirt with the best of them. But pants, for some reason, always cause me problems. So, I started off slow...

(I promise, these aren't just regular blue jeans. The color is much brighter than it appears in some of these pictures...but it's starting to get to the point where it's dark when I leave the house and it's dark when I'm done for the day, so this was the best I could do with the lighting that I had...

Also, I am not ready for perpetual darkness, again!)

Next up? I think I'll try pink. Or red. Or maybe purple? Decisions, decisions...

All Clear

Just a quick post today, to share my Two Birds Inspiration Monday inspired outfit, before Brigid and I head outside to run around the yard in celebration of her clean bill of health from the cardiologist.

(Well, as clean of a bill as you can get when the diagnosis is that there's still a hole, but it isn't causing any problems, which is about all we were looking for today...)

So, the inspiration:

Early Mornings...

Do they make alarm clocks that pour you a cup of coffee as they are buzzing annoyingly at 5:30am? Because I'm pretty sure I'd have a better chance of actually getting up at 5:30 if I had one of those. As it is, I'm starting to get a little tired of always running late.

And yet, I just can't bring myself to get out of bed at the first ring. What can I say?

I'm a snoozer!

Difference of Opinion

Tomorrow, I will be braving 90+ degree heat and possible afternoon thunderstorms to watch grown men walk around and hit a tiny ball with a long stick. All starting at 8:00 in the morning.

If you'd have told me six months ago that I'd be ridiculously excited by this prospect, I'd have told you that you were insane. And yet, here I am, obsessing over tee times and group pairings...

Go figure.

Worn out with friends over the weekend:

PS: After looking at the pictures, I added a pink belt because I thought the look was just lacking...something. It definitely helped, but I was too lazy to take another round of pictures. Sorry!

PPS: Also, I think I've set a really terrible precedent with Steve, who ignored me for years when I complained about him watching golf. Now, he's learned that if he just badgers me with something long enough, eventually I give in.

Bad. So, so bad.

PPPS: Finally, I think you should know that I'd like Steve to wear this around the course:

But Steve was wanting to wear something more along the lines of this:

And this? Is why I should always be responsible for picking out Steve's clothes.

Same old, same old...

So, last week I was feeling like a Tiger of the Auburn University variety.

This week?

I'm a Bayou Bengal!

(Yeah, that would be the LSU Tigers, for those of you who aren't being deluged with daily SEC football updates and don't automatically associate each color combination with a southern university as a result. I promise, this will go away soon...)

(Also, if you're interested, I'm guest posting for Tiffany at Breakfast with Tiffany today and I'm being featured by Melissa at A Working Mom's Closet for her Proper Professional feature. I promise, there's no college football talk at either location!)

Outlet Love

I've started tracking how much of my wardrobe (shoes, clothing, and accessories) comes from the outlets by my in-laws' house, and I've realized that if it wasn't for them, I'd either have a much smaller wardrobe (which wouldn't be the worst thing in the world), or I wouldn't be able to get my shopping fix in at discounted prices, and my husband would be hiding all of our money from me in the freezer or something, to prevent me from spending it.

Thank goodness I don't have to worry about that, you know?

(This is kind of a long way of saying that we're heading up to the lake this weekend, because Steve's aunt and uncle are in town from Cincinnati, and I'd kind of like to swing by the J Crew outlet while we're there, to see if they're having a sale at all. Is there such a thing as too many pencil skirts?)

Free food always makes the day better...

Yesterday was free queso day at Moe's Southwest Grill, which is kind of a big day in my world. I am slightly (deeply) in love with this cheese (and the burritos, for that matter), but even though I pass approximately fifteen of these places on my way home from work every day, I'm usually pretty good at controlling my cravings.

Until free queso day rolls around...

Then all bets are off.

So, so good.

(However, after I waited in line for fifteen minutes because the crowd was a little larger than normal, I was starting to question my loyalty to the cheese...and then Steve reminded me that I could, in fact, just go on a normal day and pay for it, but that kind of defeats the purpose of waiting for free cheese day, now doesn't it? Also, he may claim that I threatened him with bodily harm if he touched my queso, but he'd be lying.

Sort of...

Because I totally shared with him, once I started getting full.

I'm a giver, you know?)

Dressing for the weather...

Our temperatures have been hitting the mid-90s in Atlanta recently, and the response from the maintenance group in my office has been to drop the building temperatures to something close to 60 degrees, meaning that I have to dress for both summer and a somewhat mild winter these days. And in my case, that generally means a sweater, a skirt, a second sweater, and a blanket to cover my lap when the air conditioner draft is running especially strong.

I generally look awesome at my desk, I think.

At least I've been able to resist the urge to top my outfit with a ski cap and a pair of gloves, so far, no matter how tempting it's seemed...

The Reverse Tree

That was absolutely all I could think about when I put this outfit together...I look like an upside down tree.

And do you know what? I am really ok with that, because I built this outfit around the shoes, which are rapidly becoming my favorite shoes, ever. They are so comfortable, and so adorable, and if the outfit I pair them with makes me look like a tree, then so be it.

(And also, since I built the outfit around the shoes, you'd think I'd have included a close up of them, but you'd be wrong. There is one here, though, if you're interested...)

(And finally...Cee? The white dress totally survived the day! Even though a roughed up can of Coke Zero almost took it out, it seems that I have catlike reflexes when my clothes are at risk...)
