I like having an excuse to pull out items of clothing that I haven't worn in a very long time (if ever...because, yes, I am one of those people who hoards clothing items, then forgets to wear them...but I'm getting better about that, I promise!!) and put them to good use in a combination I might not have considered in the past.
Case in point, this week's inspiration:
I loved the simplicity of the outfit, with the black and white color scheme and lack of accessories...it managed to seem dressy and laid-back, all at the same time. And when I saw the skirt, I immediately thought about a black skirt I've had in my closet for years, one that doesn't get much use these days, but one that I still can't bring myself to throw in the donation bin. I bought this skirt when Steve and I went to Europe in 2005, because we were attending Easter Mass at the Vatican, but we were also traveling light (we're talking backpacks, and that's about it...), and I needed to be able to wad it up into a very small ball without worrying about wrinkles. And while it served its purpose, and there are too many lovely memories in it to send it on its way, all I've seen the last couple of times I've looked at it is too much poofiness and an awkward length.
But, I think it's growing on me again!
Tank Top: Max Studio (from TJ Maxx)
Skirt: Anthropologie

Oh, I think the skirt is adorable. I like how you paired it with your grey tank. The peep toes look lady like with this length of skirt.

ReplyDeleteVery cute - love your skirt!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's poofy or an awkward length! I think it's a sexy look in a demure, understated way. I love it on you!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it looks poofy or is the wrong length at all! It looks great on you and is a perfect look for summer-I would totally swap the wedges for sandals and head to Target to run errands in something like this. Too cute!

i love the skirt! i'm very much like you. i start to build memories for items of clothing or i get attached then i'm terrible about giving things away. some of my friends i'm jealous of because they can give clothes away without too much thought!
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable!!!
ReplyDeletei love the skirt! poofiness is a good thing in my book! you look great!
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem where I don't know how to wear some of my clothing, even though I love the individual pieces! Sometimes it's hard to put them together. This is why I loove blog memes. Have you done a "bloggers do it better" challenge?
